UNScribe ("we," "our," or "the Service") is an AI-powered transcription and summarization tool for publicly available United Nations Web TV content. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
You must be at least 13 years old to use UNScribe. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We do not store passwords in plain text.
Usage Data: We store the URLs you submit for transcription, selected language preferences, and the resulting transcriptions and summaries associated with your account.
Technical Data: We may collect basic technical information such as browser type, device type, and IP address for security and service improvement purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information & Legal Basis
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we process your data on the following legal bases:
- Contractual Performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): Processing your email for account creation, providing transcription and summarization services, maintaining your transcription history, and delivering results via email — all necessary to fulfill our service contract with you.
- Legitimate Interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): Collecting basic technical data (browser type, IP address) for security, fraud prevention, and service improvement. Our legitimate interest does not override your fundamental rights.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): Anonymous usage analytics via Vercel Analytics. You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
